Senate Intel Committee claims It didn't know....

I remember reading once that 'Washington is full of sunup to sundown moralists'.
It seems to be proven true by the members in the Senate Intelligence Committee.
For all their posturing on not being made aware of the means by which the CIA, NSA, FBI, or other Intel gathering agencies were getting information; it seems Senate was readily, and knowingly, authorizing it with funds and appropriations.

"Additionally the Committee included provisions in the fiscal years 2006 and 2007 Intelligence Authorization bills to add the IG sat the NRO, NSA, NGA, and DIA to the Section 8G of the Inspector General Act of 1978. This statutory designation will provide the IGs with additional authorities to conduct investigation including the ability to compel the production of information. Both years’ Authorization bills also included a provision amending the NationalSecurity Act of 1947 to establish a statutory charter for the DNIIG."

"including the ability to compel the production of information" - did the Committee think that meant making S'Mores and singing 'Cum baya' with the terrorists detainees?
